SCHOOL ZONE

Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au,which hosts the most up-to-date information on school zones in Victoria.

Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined based on your permanent residential address.

Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and may enrol at another school, if there are available places.

Lockwood Primary School currently does have capacity to consider applications from outside our neighbourhood zone as well.

FOUNDATION (PREP) ENROLMENTS 2025

The Department of Education has released an updated statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline for the 2025 school year.

The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Lockwood Primary School.

All government primary schools will follow the timeline in 2024 to support Foundation (Prep) enrolments for the 2025 school year.

You can find information and resources about the timeline, including factsheets and a poster at: Enrolling in Foundation (Prep). You can also download the ‘Foundation (Prep) Enrolment Information Pack for Parents and Carers’ from Enrolling in Foundation (Prep) (available from 15 April 2024).

You will be able to apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) 2025 at Lockwood Primary School from 15 April 2024.

ENROLMENT FORM PROCEDURE & DUE DATE- WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:

1. Contact our school by calling (03) 54 353 224 to book a school tour or to learn more about our school and the enrolment application process
2. Download the Foundation (Prep) enrolment information pack from Enrolling in Foundation (Prep) (available from 15 April 2024). This pack includes an application form, which you can also request from our school.
3. Submit an enrolment application (if enrolling from outside our neighbourhood zone) for Foundation (Prep) by Friday 26 July 2024.
4. You will be notified of the outcome of your application between Monday 29 July and Friday 9 August 2024. If you receive an enrolment offer, you should contact our school to accept the offer by Friday 23 August 2024.
5. Take part in enrolment information and transition sessions during Term 4, 2024.
6. Prepare your child to start Foundation (Prep) from Wednesday 29 January 2025.

Enrolment applications submitted after 26 July 2024 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Placement Policy.

Parents MUST supply the school with the following items for full enrolment:

1. A copy of your child's birth certificate or the original and the school can take a photocopy of it. 
2. A copy of your child's immunisation certificate or the original and the school can take a photocopy of it
   • Document issued by the Australian Childhood Immunistation Register on completion of their 4 year old vaccine 

SCHOOL TOURS and PARENT INFORMATION SESSION

During Education Week, Lockwood Primary School will hold an open afternoon at the school on Wednesday 15th May from 2:30-3:30pm.  A great opportunity to see our classes in action.  School Tours for prospective families are welcome – please contact us to organise a time.

Also on Wednesday 15th May from 3:15-3:45pm the school will be holding an information session for 2025 prospective Foundation students and their families.  Other times to inspect the school are available by appointment.   Please contact the school office to arrange.

TRANSITION PROGRAM - IMPORTANT KEY DATES

This year our Transition Sessions will be:

Session 1:        Tuesday 19th November - 9:15am-10:15am

Session 2:        Tuesday 26th November - 9:15-10:15am

Session 3:        Tuesday 3rd December - 9:15-10:15am

Session 4:        Tuesday 10th December (statewide Orientation Day) - 9:15-11:45am

Session 1:        Tuesday 19th November

• Students and their Parent/Carer will meet in the Library area. Our 2024 Foundation teacher will provide some play based activities. On this day students will be given a Social Story book that will introduce them to Lockwood Primary School and some of our routines. Please note, this year the school will provide all Foundation students with their school hat on their first transition session.

Session 2:        Tuesday 26th November 

• Students will go into the Library area. Parents/carers are welcome to stay at the school and have a cup of tea/coffee in the staffroom or drop your child off and return at pick up time. This is also a good opportunity to finalise your child’s enrolment if official documents are still required at school e.g. Birth or Immunisation Certificate.

Session 3:        Tuesday 3rd December

• Students will go into the Library area, today they will meet with their buddy. Parents/carers are welcome to stay at the school and have a cup of tea/coffee in the staff room. There will be an opportunity for a Q & A session for the parents at this time.

Session 4:       Tuesday 10th December

Statewide Orientation Day for Preps and other new students is on Tuesday December 10^th.    The whole school, including our 2025 foundation students and other 2025 students will particpate in transition activities throughout the morning.

BUDDIES PROGRAM
We have a brilliant two-year program in which Grade 5 students are allocated to an incoming Prep and support them as their "Buddy".
