The Righteous Pups - Autism Assistance Dogs Training Program matches Grade 5 and 6 students with a puppy. Students participate in weekly training sessions as well as special events such as public outings and a sleepover with their dogs.Students who consistently demonstrate the school values and work to achieve the goals of the program are awarded the Jill Polholke Medal at the Grade 6 Graduation Ceremony.The program is a major part of our mental health and wellbeing strategy. Students learn about the psychology of both dogs and humans, tey learn about their own personalities and the importance of self-regulation and being truthful to ourselves.Our students take great pride in helping to train a dog that will eventually support an autistic child in their own home.VIDEO - LOCKWOOD PS STUDENTS TRAINING THEIR PUPS
